I'm Carolyn Sharp, a licensed clinical social worker with more than 30 years of experience helping couples build relationships they actually want to be in.
I see couples in person at my office in West Newbury, five minutes off Route 95 and ten minutes from downtown Newburyport. I also offer virtual sessions for couples in New York and Washington State.
My work is built on PACT — the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy — a neuroscience and attachment-based method that goes underneath the surface of what you're fighting about to what's actually driving it. Sessions run 90 minutes to three hours, which means we go deep enough in a single meeting to actually shift something. Most couples work with me once or twice a month.
I also offer couples therapy intensives: three consecutive days of focused work for couples who want to go further, faster.
Who I work with
I work with couples at all stages — couples who are struggling, couples who are okay but want to be great, and couples facing a specific crisis or decision.
I also work with women individually, particularly those navigating midlife transitions including menopause, empty nest, and career changes.
