CLINICAL
SUPERVISION

I provide clinical supervision to graduate students and new social workers and psychotherapists seeking their licensure or enhanced professional growth. I offer individual and group supervision to help new therapists develop their skill base, solidify their practice philosophies, and enhance their fluency in the ethical challenges that psychotherapy presents. I utilize an isomorphic philosophy in my work as clinical supervisor, modeling the skills in supervision that the student seeks to learn as therapist. I also use the professional supervisory relationship effectively to facilitate learning. I utilize didactics, Socratic conversation, audio and video tape reviews, homework, and other tools to facilitate the learning of the supervisee, dependent on that individual’s needs and goals. I am empathic, supportive, firm, clear, and tough. It is recommended that a clinician receive at least one hour of clinical supervision per forty hours of direct client contact. This should be scheduled on a consistent schedule to promote the best learning.
