"Inevitably, we tell and retell our stories until we understand all they have to teach us. We tell and retell the stories we hear because we can’t experience everything by ourselves. We keep stories alive because to re-member is to put broken pieces together. We keep learning from stories how to make things whole." Mark Nepo, The Exquisite Risk
My work with adults in based heavily in mindfulness and psychodynamic approaches. My work as a therapist with adults is to be present to each person’s story. I create a space of safety and acceptance, through which they can discover themselves, how they came to be here and how to get to where they want to be. I work with individuals to experience joy in who they are through accepting the lessons offered in life and the gifts and strengths they have to apply to these lessons. I serve as a compassionate, non-judgmental presence that listens intently and reflects the meanings a client is seeking. Together we develop the path through their struggle, offering concrete guidance and suggestions, as well as more open and fluid support, My style is straightforward, playful, “real” and very compassionate. I typically see adults once or twice per week, depending on the presenting need. My specialties with adults include, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship challenges, coping with the illness of a loved one, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and parenting stress.
